The young teen pop-sensation who started off her entertainment career as the much-adored Hannah Montana has grown up to be the sultry, sexy, and provocative 20-year old Miley Cyrus. She has made headlines for many of her scant scant outfits, and the much debated youtube twerking video.
The new recorded, and much awaited Bangerz album is considered to be her best work as it is her transition from being the sweetheart that everyone knows, to the explosive and much-changed hip hop goddess of the 21st century. She already let everyone know in her previous album that she Can’t Be Tamed, and so as a result, no one should be surprised with all the changes.
The first single that she released was the catchy, and easy-to-sing-along-to We Can’t Stop. She broke the Vevo record for the most views in 24 hours, and this record set the tone for the rest of her album.
The song, as Miley Cyrus herself explained, is about young people partying it up until the sun comes up. Essentially, it is also about greed and lust and just doing whatever yiou want to do, with the underlying message that no one but God can judge you for being who you are, and who you want to be. This is an example of a classic pop turned into hip hop song, with amazing vocals from the artist. Definately a song worth having on your playlist if you are into the sort of music which gets you up and dancing.
In my biased opinion, Miley Cyrus’ swift change could not have come at a better time. She is the epitome of what it means to be twenty, and although children can no longer look up to her, I feel very strongly that many young adults can relate to her, and most of what she has gone through. Heartbreak, divorced parents. Her music should, and does, speak to a large audience, of mostly young and older teenagers. She is creative, and has a fairly good head on her shoulders, despite the choices she has made. Most of those choices have brought her to this point, and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
