From Disney Star to Twerking Queen, the Pop sensation Miley Cyrus is twerking her way to No. 1 onto Billboards Top 200.
Pop singer Miley Ray Cyrus, 20, twerked her way to the top spot of the weekly Billboard Top 200 album chart on Wednesday, the 17th October 2013 making it her fourth chart topping record with her new album ‘Bangerz‘ which features Miley Cyrus experimenting with hip hop, dance and R&B influences such as Jay Sean, Nelly and Juicy J and Future.
The former Disney star formerly known as the teenage child star ‘Hannah Montana‘, has captured headlines around the world, with a series of scantily clothing, provocative performances and shocking behavior, that began with the MTV Video Music Awards last month. Where she showed off some evocative dance moves, known as “twerking” and where Cyrus dances felt ‘less than humane’ at the VMA’s.
The “Wrecking Ball” is the second single from ‘Bangerz’, which has sold over 270,000 albums and claimed the No.1 spot on iTunes in over 70 countries, including Canada, Australia, Ireland and the U.K. This is the pop star’s second No. 1 album and has her being seen naked and swinging from a giant wrecking ball and provocatively licking a sledgehammer.
There has been no more news yet on whether Miley will be busting out the teddy bear silhouette and foam finger again. But a source informed E! News Wednesday, that she’s starting to focus on a “huge” upcoming performance at the 2013 American Music Awards on November 24. She’s also scheduled to perform as the 2013 Jingle Ball in December. And if that’s not enough the “We Can’t Stop” songstress has lots more promotion planned for her no. 1 hit album.
Miley Cyrus has defiinitly pulled away from her former child star and created a new signature look for herself in the last few months from the wardrobe selections (or lack thereof), to her outrageous quotes, awkward twerking and the rest of her wild-child behavior where she easily grabs attention, but with all her outward pompous she fails to let her music speak for itself.
‘Bangerz’ kicks off the 13-track set with “Adore You,” a downbeat song about love. Other tracks follow with a similar low beat energy. However, “Wrecking Ball,” “My Darlin‘ ” and “Somewhere Else” capture a more mature side of Miley that we haven’t seen much of before and when she explores the different emotions of her character and she when doesn’t play the caricature that she’s become, you’re able to appreciate Cyrus as an artist.
If using the phrase “artist” and Cyrus is shocking, it follows the theme of “Bangerz” which surprises you, in a good way. Cyrus teased the album with the radio-friendly party anthem “We Can’t Stop“, and this showed how she makes her music sound like an experimental blend of elements of alternative, upbeat pop, soft rock with hints of R&B and hip-hop.
Miley Cyrus’s outlandish behavior is helping her gain attention. She’s become a social media queen, the talk of every news program and music’s “it” girl, even stealing thunder from new releases by Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. A far move away from the innocence of Hannah Montana. If Miley would concentrate more on showcasing her music rather than trying to become the latest shock queen, perhaps we wouldn’t be as shocked that “Bangerz” is actually a good album. Listening to this entire album I couldn’t help but want more and play these songs over and over again in my car. This album is on the top of my favourite albums of this year and for good reason. Take a listen and I’m sure it will be on your list of favourites too.
Controversy still works though and there’s no overestimating the value of shock Miley has created. Which might be reason why Cyrus’ handlers released photos Wednesday of the singer dressed in a suit of silvery body paint while shooting a music video with the rapper Future. With all the new changes Miley has undertaken, fans may still be in shock, but there is no denying that music lovers will be impressed with her new take upon vocal, bass and music taste. And who knows what else this Pop sensation holds in store for her audiences in the future. This is definitely an album worth listening to for those teens and young adults, as there is no denying whether Miley Cyrus has talent or not so If you want to hear her latest hit album that is creating shock waves and is the talk around media, it is available on iTunes and Amazon.
