The Inspirational Dream Chaser

Robert William, who is better known by his stage name “Meek Mill”, is an American hip hop artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His striking self reflection through his music brings another light to the music industry. Attaining relationships with music moguls such as Jay Z, Rick Ross, Wale, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and more has been another highlight representing his unique talent. Meek Mill was briefly signed to T.I.’s record label Grand Hustle Records and in 2011, he signed to Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group while under the mentorship of Jay Z and under Rock Nation.

Mill’s began releasing mix tapes in 2006, with the first debut mix tape being “The Real Me”. Since then, he has released 9 mix tapes, collaborated on two albums with Maybach Music and released his first studio album called Dreams & Nightmares in 2012. It’s clear that Mill’s came a long way from starting a rap group called “The Blood Houndz” with three of his friends to him being a world renowned hip hop artist.

On the mix tape, the Maybach Group artist Wale states that, “dream chasing has become an occupation and once one achieves their dream, it’s all up to them to do whatever they want to do with their lives.  It’s clear that this loud and explicit hip hop artist is not only rapping for the money but to also inspire at the same time. In February 2012, MTV listed Meek Mill as the #7 hottest MC in their annual “Hottest MCs in the Game” list. In the run-up of the release of his debut studio album Dreams & Nightmares, Mill received co-signs from both Mariah Carey and Nas, later stating that, “I got my eyes on him. He’s the next one to take this shit over.” The album is currently set to be released on October 30, 2012
