Adele’s rise to Fame.

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, is a 21 year old English song writer and singer from North London England. Adele started singing at the age of 4 with musical interests raging from Spice Girls as a young girl, she later fell in love with Rnb artists by the likes of Destiny’s Child, Aaliyah and Mary J. Blidge. The Someone Like You singer first came on the music scene in 2008 when she released her debut album 19. 19 Saw her cover the classic To Make You Feel My Love and Chasing Pavements. 19 Debuted at number one on music charts and it also went 4x platinum in the UK. Adele received her first Grammy in 2009 when she was honored with the Best New Artist Award and the award for the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
After a  2 year break from recording, Adele then released 21 on 21st January 2011, the album that would see her reaching world wide success and the album that would dominate music charts all over the world. The sound of her album can be described as having classical contemporary roots and influences in country music. Adele’s album sold 208,000 copies in its first week in the UK, the album debuted at number one on the UK Charts and it maintained it position there for 16 weeks. 21 Went 10 times platinum for shipment of 3.0million units. 21 Has charted at number 1 in 17 countries, including Europe, Australia and the USA.

The first single from 21 Rolling in the Deep sold 4.825 million copies in the US, which is the most digital copies of a song sold in a year in the US. The song also reached number 1 in 8 countries and on the Billboards 100.
While Rolling in the Deep brought great success, Someone Like You however became a record on its own being the first song to sell over a million copies in the UK this decade. The success of Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You saw Adele being the first British female artist having two consecutive number one hits from the same album. Adele has won awards such as MTV Music, Teen Choice, Critic Choice, European Border Awards, and to top it all off a Grammy. To date Adele has won 15 awards from a total of 54 nominations.
Rumor Has It that May 2012 may be the next album release from this soul full British singer!
