Akon’s new album-stadium

By Linda Kibi
Akon was born on the 16th of April 1977 in st Louis, Mo and grew up in Senegal before he and his family returned to the United States and settled in New Jersey when he was seven years old. Akon began writing/recording tracks in a home studio. He was jailed three years and he used the time that he was in jail to work on his musical ideas. The first release of his album was in June 2004. He rose to prominence in 2004 following the release of the singles locked up and lonely. The success of the song locked up made Akon a star and desired collaborator. His second album convicted was released in November 2006 and his third album freedom followed two years later.
Akon will release his forth album titled Stadium Due out early 2011 with guest appearances by Lady Gaga, Young Jezzy, Drake, Lil Wayne, T Pain and David Guetta. The album includes 14 tracks. Rapper Akon says his new album is influenced by many styles of music he has been exposed to touring across the world. The first single from Akon’s new album has just been released, it is called nosy neighbour and it is produced by David Guetta. It is very similar to their last collaboration sexy bitch. The album suits all ages, all nationalities, [and] all genres.
Akon says that, the whole concept and the whole inspiration came from the development and preparation of the World Cup. As he was doing a lot of music that they made solely for the World Cup, and he was making this music he started to realize “wow this energy is amazing.” While he was in South Africa, doing the World Cup and seeing how these records were playing in the club and all these instrumentals that they did for the DJs were being reacted, and he was like “this energy is the energy I need for this next album”.
